20 things to do in Washington...

Just returned from our annual Thanksgiving trip to Washington. Sleep was minimal - food was maximum - and kids at their happiest... until it was time to leave in which case emotional breakdowns were plentiful.

Here are the 20 things we did:

20. Learn how to sit-up!

19. Destroy Grandma's living room... again... and again... and again.

 18. Make-overs by Uncle David.

17. Russian doll line-ups.

 16. Playdoh parties.

15. Solitaire - I taught Cosie and she loved it... of course.

14. Remember you are still a lousy shot.

13. Snuggle Aunt Kara.

12. Argue with your mother-in-law about putting a cooking pot right on the serving table - Blake won.

 11. Tease an uncle.

10. Listen to Dad's traditional Thanksgiving speech.

9. Find a good deal for Black Friday.

8. Eat pie - or in Blake's case: pies. We calculated that he ate more pie by himself than the rest of us (31 others) all combined.

7. Have a candy party. The girls made these unsupervised with Breeana - the resulting mess on Kara's kitchen table was spectacular.

6. Pig out - pretty sure this kid is still on a sugar high.

5. Take a nap on Grandpa.
\
4. Run a Turkey Trot.

3. Beg your uncle for fun on their phone.

2. OMSI trip with cousins.

1. Drive off into the sunset... made it home late last night with completely wiped children.

Happy Thanksgiving. This year I am thankful for extended family... grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends that become family... they all enrich the landscape of my children's childhoods. I know for a fact that my children's greatest memories of their youth will be the one's made with these special people.
