Uncamping fail...

We wanted to get in one last camping trip of the summer, but Luna and Perry would have just made it kind of miserable and I wasn't willing to part with Blake while he took the older kids. So we decided on uncamping at one of our go-to spots - Bruneau Sand Dunes.

We grabbed Blake from work and pizza on our way out of town. Once there we set our sights on the tallest dune and surprisingly all 7 of us made it to the top.

The kids loved the sand although Fielding was suffering from some extreme fear of heights which was really uncharacteristic of him.

On our way down we hit up the hidden bowl to make sand angels.

Why do I always have to be a part of this?

Once we made it back to our shoes the sun was setting just in time for a fire and smores (the thing that makes uncamping camping-ish). But as soon as we stopped moving the mosquitoes started swarming... like crazy. So Blake being the logical thinker of the group said, "We got to get out of here." I didn't want to admit defeat, however, I am grateful we followed his lead when we woke up today with only half-a-dozen bites  instead of the hundreds I am sure we would have had had we stayed.

Seems like a pretty great family adventure anyway.

Looks like fun times in the sand. And love the fact that it is still warm enough to short sleeve it in the spud state. Great memories.

Mosquitoes! I hate them and I get bites every single time I go outside for more than 5 minutes here. It's the only upside to the bitter cold winter ahead of us. At least you had a half-successful-uncamping adventure! You got cute pictures on the dunes!
