Boston Baby...

Blake did it! He qualified for Boston!

This was his goal for the past two years and I couldn't be more happy for him - so happy that I forgot all about taking finish line shots. I took one and then just started hooting and hollering like he had won an Olympic medal.

Fielding palming his non-Olympic medal - this thing is beastly (Jealous, Kara?)

The marathon Blake was going to run this weekend was supposed to be in Boise. He was excited for a low-key run (no traveling, sleep in our own bed, eat his usual food, etc). But the race got cancelled Monday night due to road construction. Since he was all trained and tapered, he went on a hunt for other runs. It came down to Pocatello, ID or Mt. Nebo in Payson, UT. Despite crazy high elevation and some hills, he picked Nebo. And I think he picked right...

He finished in 3:04:18 (he needed to be under 3:05). He really cut it close but he did it. The course had a hilly start and he had to pace himself over them then it finished with a big downhill. He did a negative split (He went faster on the last 13 than he did on the first 13) which I found to be impressive.

The photographer requested this pose and Blake dislikes this photo but I kind of love it!

Blake ended up taking 2nd overall which was cool. This is the guy that took 1st and Blake and him became friends. We are kind of bummed he showed up though seeing that this was his first marathon and he kind of didn't know what he was doing. He did know enough to not let Blake catch him though.

It was a fantastic run for Blake. I am glad the kids and I could make a last minute schedule shift and cheer him on to victory!

The kids taking over the award podium.

yay for Blake! We're so so excited for him (and you because, let's face it, he couldn't have done it without your support)!!!

The guy who beat him is 10 years younger than Blake:
